Course Guide

At The Excelsior Academy Sixth Form, we offer a vast range of qualifications to prepare students for Higher Education. 

In addition to our Level 3 offer (A-levels, BTEC, AAQ'S), we also offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which forms a mandatory part of our curriculum for eligible Year 12 students. 

The EPQ has many benefits: 

• Allows pupils to research a topic of personal interest in depth.
• Helps pupils develop independent study and project management skills.
• Improves critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
• Enhances academic writing, referencing, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrates motivation and initiative to universities and employers.
• Can strengthen pupils’ UCAS applications and may even result in lower university offers.
• Provides useful preparation for university-style learning and dissertations.
• Gives pupils a sense of achievement and confidence in managing long-term work
